Wicklow County Council Library Service has been awarded Library of Sanctuary status!

We are thrilled to announce that Wicklow County Council Library Service has been awarded Library of Sanctuary status!

The announcement was made at County Buildings in Wicklow Town on Wednesday, the 19th of June, in the presence of Cathaoirleach @aoifeflynnkennedy , Director of Service Theresa O’Brien, and Tiffy Allen, the National Coordinator  of Places of Sanctuary Ireland.

This recognition highlights the efforts of library’s dedicated and hardworking team in creating safe and welcoming spaces for everyone. The library service has always strived to be more than places to borrow books; they are community hubs where people from all walks of life can find support, resources, and a sense of belonging.

Thank you to library’s existing and new communities for making this achievement possible. A special word of thanks to Cathaoirleach Aoife Flynn Kennedy and to all of their local councillors who have made it their mission to support county’s initiatives and our libraries.
